NetSci High: High School Student Research on Network Science is a pilot educational outreach program organized and run by the community of network scientists. It aims to infuse Network Science, an emerging interdisciplinary field of study on complex networks, into K-12 education by connecting high school students and teachers to university research labs and letting them work on current network science research for several months, culminating in a poster presentation at NetSci conferences.

We welcome our High School participants to NetSci2012!

Earlybird Workshop: Introduction to Agent-Based Modeling with NetLogo
Sunday June 17th 6:00-8:30 p.m.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) using NetLogo, the most widely used agent-based modeling language. The workshop will be led by the CCL (ccl.northwestern.edu), creators of NetLogo. Participants will learn how to construct ABMs and model a variety of phenomena, including natural, social and engineered phenomena. NetLogo has capabilities to model network dynamics including dynamic formation of networks. The workshop will be customized to participants’ research or professional interests, and participants will have the opportunity to explore, analyze and construct agent-based models that fit their particular field or research.

NetLogo is widely used both in education and in research and has recently been enhanced with even more network capabilities . This is your chance to become acquainted with this exciting research tool.

Light refreshments will be provided

To register for this workshop, please contact Arthur Hjorth.
